#1 What do I know and think about integrating technology in the classroom?
Integrating technology into the classroom is very important as the world changes and shifts towards a more technological age. All students of the 21st century have grown up with the new and changing technology, I know this because I am one of those students. What a better way to allow the students to learn, then to integrate what they have grown up with into the classroom. The use of computers, smart boards, and even cellphones in class has made the experience of learning more exciting for myself and other students rather than the textbook approach. There are such websites that I used over the course of high school to text in answers, making the use of the cell phone more educational rather than just recreational. Students become more invested in their work when technology is used along with textbooks to teach new material, I know that I was.

well first off i like how you included a picture in your blog, you made it unique :) and i like how you put yourself in the situation and explained how technology helped YOU through the course of school so far. I grew up with smart boards in most of my classes to which was a big help because slides were open on the smart board as a visual aid while my teacher would stand at the other chalk board and do more examples explaining how she solved the problem.
ReplyDeleteI completely disagree that ALL students grew up with the new and changing technology. I know for a fact I did not, and a large portion of the kids at my school from first grade through seventh grade did not either. My parents did not feel the need to have all the "advanced" technology right away, and other students' families simply did not have the money. Being pretty much the only middle-class kid in a school of really, really rich kids and really, really poor kids, my parents saw no need for me to be "spoiled" when I could get along just as well without AS much technology. I'm not saying I grew up with none; my family did have a computer. I just didn't have a phone until I was in eighth grade (and still don't have one with internet access), have never owned a gaming system, and spent more time reading actual books or playing outside than inside on the computer.
DeleteI am about the same. I didn't have a cellphone until I was in ninth grade. What I meant was that we knew the technology was there. We were immersed in at as we grew up, our parents didn't really have access to computers or cellphones. We do, or at least my school had computer labs and our teachers had us use them to better our learning.
DeleteI also like how you incorporated a picture with your paragraph. I agree with all your points that kids of the younger generation have grown up with only technology, and in a couple of years we wont even have texbooks! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI am in the middle of what you said and what Amanda has said. Going along with what Amanda said I also did not have a lot of technology in my classes in elementary school and even middle school. Once I got to high school there was more technology but not in every class. I definitely think how much technology that is available depends on how much money the school and school district has. Bringing more into the classroom will benefit a lot, it will just cost a lot as well.
